ICA General Counsel, Zak Muscovitch, led a UDRP Panelist workshop in Vancouver, along with renowned UDRP panelists Steve Levy and Doug Isenberg. The workshop was hosted by the CIIDRC, an ICANN-accredited UDRP dispute resolution provider. Many thanks to Ina Ergasheva, Director of Operations at the Canadian International Internet Dispute Resolution Centre, for organizing and convening the workshop, and to Gowlings WLG for hosting it.
The workshop involved a morning series of sessions with panelists’ presentations, including Doug Isenberg on UDRP statistics, Steve Levy and Claude Freeman on “How to Lose a UDRP,” Zak Muscovitch on “The Domain Name Secondary Market,” Gerald Levine on “Prevailing in Contested and Close Cases,” and Richard Levy and Michael Erdle on “Refiled Complaints.”
The afternoon session featured Steve Levy, Doug Isenberg, and Zak Muscovitch holding an interactive workshop on the UDRP’s three-part test.
This was the first CIIDRC day-long Panelist workshop, and we hope to see it held again next year. This year’s session saw participants attending both in person in Vancouver and online from around the world. It was a fabulous session, with participating panelists gaining a newfound appreciation for the nuances of the UDRP.
