It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Howard Neu this past weekend. Howard was a founding member of the ICA and a respected UDRP attorney, as well as the co-founder of many domain name conferences: T.R.A.F.F.I.C., Merge, and The Domain Conference.
Howard’s remarkable journey before his significant contributions to the domain name industry included serving as the mayor of North Miami and showcasing his talents as a singer, actor, and radio/TV personality.
We recently had the privilege of honoring Howard with the ICA Lifetime Achievement Award, a moment that brought him great comfort and joy. Howard was deeply moved by the video messages of well wishes from our community. Although his health did not permit him to express his gratitude individually, his wife, Barbara, shared that he would have loved nothing more than to personally thank each person who contributed. This sentiment underscores the kind, appreciative, and community-oriented person Howard was.
Howard’s wife, Barbara, who has been steadfastly by his side throughout his journey, and his son, Ray, and Howard’s entire family are in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences to them and to all who were fortunate enough to know Howard.
Howard’s passing is a great loss to our community, but his spirit and contributions will forever remain with us.
The family is planning a celebration of Howard’s life Saturday, March 23 and Barbara will share the details on her Facebook page.

Howard Neu was a big part of the domain name industry. He made those, with a thirst for knowledge, feel comfortable being part of the many conventions and conferences I experienced. Howard had a love for life and family that was always evident in the way he carried himself to the very end. He will be missed.
