ICA and its members will have a major presence at The Domain Conference, a new industry gathering being held September 26-29 at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Pier 66 Hotel and Spa in Fort Lauderdale, Florida,. The four-day event will start with two days of relaxed poolside networking overlapping with three days of highly informative sessions on the business of domaining. The Domain Industry Awards Luncheon will take place on the final day of the Conference and will feature noted journalist Ron Jackson speaking on the “State of the Industry”.
ICA Counsel Philip Corwin and other ICA members and domain industry leaders will participate in a panel on currently hot legal and policy issues for the domain industry – including:
- the IANA transition and ICANN accountability
- domain theft defenses and remedies
- recent attempts by ICANN staff to write the URS into legacy gTLD renewal agreements
- the outlook for UDRP reform, and
- trends in UDRP decisions.
Corwin serves on ICANN’s GNSO Council policymaking body and has just been named Interim Chair of its Business Constituency. He testified in May to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee regarding enhanced ICANN accountability.
ICA will have a breakout room during the Conference where members can gather and potential members can meet and greet. Given the great venue and the fine program we expect a good turnout and look forward to seeing you there!
